FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS |
1. What do I wear? Comfortable clothing that you can move in. That usually means stretchy stuff. Yoga clothes, dance clothes, sports clothes are all fine. |
2. What if I have never taken a movement class before? You are movement, so even if you have never taken a class focused on movement before, you are in a perfect place to begin. The class is structured so that many different levels can work to maximum effectiveness. Because you are tuning into your own moving system and taking the movement cues from yourself, you will not have to worry about overdoing it if you are not "in shape." |
3. What do you mean when you refer to the fluid system? In the most general terms, the body is mostly water. When you focus on water, you are naturally in the realm of flow, and are not looking at static forms. You end up experiencing yourself, your body, as movement, and for want of a better word, as a fluid system. |
4. What do you mean when you speak about moving into a quantum state? When you begin to relate to your body's fluid systems, you quickly leave Newtonian physics behind and find quantum physics a much more resonant science for describing the sensations and qualities that you encounter as you explore. You generally move from a feeling of yourself as a static object to sensations of yourself in process and in relationship to or in communication with the world around you. Experience comes to be more oriented around energy and communication. |
5. Is this class like yoga? The class is like yoga in its focus on the development of movement consciousness. It differs from the way yoga is generally taught in that the movement is more exploratory and process-oriented rather than shape or position oriented. You are the authority on where you go and how you get there. |
6. Is this class like tai chi? The class is like tai chi in its orientation toward flow in the body. It differs from tai chi in that you follow your body for the directions on where to move rather than trying to produce a specific direction of flow through your body. From LiquidBody's perspective, you already have an immense reservoir of energy flowing through your body, and it is more a matter of tapping into it consciously, and following your body's wisdom about how to maximize your conscious interaction with it, rather than having to manufacture it or sculpt it from the outside. |

7. What if I have an injury that limits my range of movement? This is an excellent class to take. Because the class is structured around each individual exploring and expanding their own movement potential, it is very easy to find plenty of moving you can do, and to adapt the exercises to your own individual needs. You will be stimulating much needed circulation which will speed recovery, and you will be developing awareness and a much more complex and adaptive support system that will serve you well as you regain mobility. |
